Despite the fact that Madibeng is surrounded by four dams that include Hartbeespoort, Rooikoppies, Vaalkop, and Klipvoor Dams, most black and poor communities lack a basic supply of water. Black and poor face a daily struggle to uphold basic human dignity. There are endless queues for water. Children miss school because they have to carry containers that are more than their body weight. Illness and death from preventable water-borne diseases are not uncommon. Women and girls' time and safety are particularly compromised in a country with high levels of gender-based violence. The objectives of the project are to provide sustainable potable water solutions to households in Madibeng local municipality, eliminate the challenges of women and children in Madibeng local municipality in getting quality potable water and empower the people to own solutions to potable water availability.
Donate NowTemba is a fair mix of rural and urban settlement patterns at the residential settlement scale. Temba is facing a paucity of potable water that has been on for about seventeen years. This is because the water supplied by the purification plant is not drinkable. This is the jurisdiction of the municipality. The intervention of the municipality is the provision of water tankers that deliver water once a week. This is not adequate. Women and children are mostly affected. Chapter 4 of the National Development Plan (NDP) envisages a South Africa that recognizes the importance of secure and equitable access to water and sanitation as catalysts for socio-economic development. The Call to Action of the National Water and Sanitation Master Plan (NW&SMP) is a concise summation of the top priority issues confronting the water and sanitation sector at this time and which seeks to rally all water sector stakeholders in South Africa to work together. Since the problem is a water quality issue, the project seeks to intervene by installing water filters in households. The project includes a water management seminar, installation of the filter, confirming the water quality, and training to ensure the sustainability of the project.
Donate NowThe need for clean, potable water in Hammanskraal is critical. As recently reported by SABC on April 4, 2024, the community remains without clean running water (https://www.sabcnews.com/sabcnews/water-hammanskraal/ ). This situation places significant health risks on the people, who rely on borehole water that requires proper treatment to be safe for consumption. We have taken the first crucial step by collecting water samples for analysis. This analysis is essential for designing an effective and sustainable water treatment plant tailored to the specific needs of the borehole water. We are calling on you, our valued supporters, to help us bridge the gap. By committing to a monthly donation of R100 ($5), you can play a pivotal role in ensuring that the children of Tshwaraganang have access to clean, safe water. Every contribution brings us closer to our goal and makes a tangible difference in the lives of these children.
